Starting a Record Label is like starting a business, it may be for the love of music to you or the need of helping artist achieve their goals, whatever your motive is you have to treat it like a business... ... The first thing you need to do when you starting a Record Label you have to have a business plan to guide you. Once you have drafted your plan than you have to think of the name of your business and that name needs to be a well thought and professional name that will not degrade your business. These are the things you should know when you are registering your Company... ... • It will cost you about R875,00 to start a company owned by more than three people and about R628,00 if you are less than three people... ... • If there will be shareholders than you must have a shareholders certificate It can take up to three months for the registering process to be complete... ... Once that has been completed than you will have to put your words into action and that’s when the hard work will be needed... ... A lawyer will be needed to handle legal side like contracts for the artist’s. But if you starting small you can grow up the contract’s yourself which will be a standard contract... ... This will get you thinking for the rest of the week, I will give you more information about running a Record Company next week Tuesday on the 1st of April... ...
